Weekly Re-Cap / Thoughts

- Last week was a great week!

- I love this weather! The Fall is my favorite season.

- I love going for drives with Leah to explore. This past week our goal was to find random apple trees on the side of the road to pick from. Does this mean we are getting old? Well, what if I told you we also stopped at some antique shops too?

- Brian and Libby are going to have their baby any day now! I’m so nervous. Their blog posts have been pretty funny. Check them out. I never met anyone that had so many competitions surrounding the birth of their child. Hmmm…It gives me some great ideas of how to pay for my kid when that time comes.

- UNITED was awesome last Wednesday! We are building a ton of momentum!

- Don’t forget that UNITED is every Wednesday at 6:30, with an extra big one called UNITED LIVE coming up on October 8th!

- Church was awesome this weekend! Pastor Buddy pretty much did his whole talk while riding a bike and jogging. (He was training for a triathlon thing.)

- Learning the whole “own your own behavior” concept. It’s tuff.

- Baseball’s regular season is over! Red Sox never caught up to the Ray’s, but at least they won the Wild Card. Going to miss the first playoff game becaue of UNITED. Well worth it though! :)

- I hope you all have a productive week!

Video Blog: Inner Strength – George W. Bush

This has hardly been a blog that features any kind of political thoughts or ideas (I mean, look at my last post for crying out loud), but there is something that has been on my mind a lot lately while watching the news. It’s how George W. Bush (GWB) has been portrayed about how he “ruled” during his presidency.

I have always been a big supporter of GWB. Most of that support has come from the fact that I knew there was a man in that office that loves God more than America. Some would say that that would “disqualify” him, but I think it makes him even more qualified. No president is perfect. No president will make all the “right” decisions. GWB had what some say is one of the toughest presidencies since WWII.

Anyway, I’m not going to rant and rave, but just watch this video and let it speak for itself. Especially if you’re a Christian and have ridiculed GWB, then I just hope that this sheds some light on where he is coming from.

I’d be interested to know if you knew about any of the information in this video. Take time to watch the whole thing. It’s worth it.

Identity Crisis (Don’t Read!)

I feel like since I have started this blog, I have been pretty revealing about who I am as a person. Right? Well, when I was in High School and college, I went through many identity crisis’ (Is that how I say that?). Mostly on the exterior.

Take my senior High School picture for instance on the left compared to my freshman in Bible College picture on the right:

Then there’s my Junior High School picture here on the left compared to my Sophmore college picture on the right:

Here are some other pictures that have been taken:

STOP! I know what you’re thinking! I know that you’re wondering why I sometimes had a hairy forehead and always had a little scruff under my chin, but let’s stay on track here! Identity Crisis!

At least I was able to research some people you might know, which made me feel a lot better!

Do you know any of these people? These were the REAL pictures that inspired what you saw above.

Seriously…Do you recognize them?

MORE? Naaaahhhhhh. Let me see if I keep these guys as friends first.

Everything UNITED

l_c11d6b1caa75ea929ae8afe8991f1852.jpgWe had an amazing kick-off to the school year with our first UNITED last week! Over 20 students accepted Christ into their lives! God is doing some incredible things here at Northway Church and His favor is on this next generation! We are so excited to see what is going on in Northway Student Ministry (NSM)!

As most of you know, we have made some adjustments from last year that are going to help us do even more!

Here are some of the highlights of what you can expect:

- UNITED is EVERY Wednesday night at 6:30 pm, with an extra big UNITED on the first Wednesday of the month!! The once a month “big UNITED” is going to be called UNITED LIVE! (UNITED LIVE in October is going to be October 8th, which just happens to be the second Wednesday) Make sense?

- This means that the next UNITED is tomorrow night, September 24 at 6:30 pm in Clifton Park. The next UNITED LIVE is on October 8th!

- We are opening up a new atmosphere at UNITED LIVE on October 8th, that will feature a “High School Only” section! Trust me…It will be awesome! It will be a more relaxing place for them to be able to hang out with their friends!
- We will also be splitting Middle School and High School for UNITED in October, and then bring them back together for UNITED LIVE once a month.

- In the near future, we will be offering some breakout sessions at UNITED for any students that want to sign up for them. More info to come soon!

I know this is a lot of information right now, but I hope that you can get behind NSM as we move forward in encouraging this next generation to be the best generation for God in all of history!

We brought over 130 students to camp this past summer and so many of them have changed lives! Many of them did not want to go to camp, but their parents got them on the bus anyway! ALL of those students came home thanking their parents! We want to encourage you (parents) to do the same with UNITED. Get them here and let God do the rest. They are worth it!

If you are a parent, then you will be receiving a letter in the mail shortly from me with some of this same information. If you have any questions at all, then please let me know! You can email me anytime at I would love to answer any questions that you have.

I’m praying for you and your family!

Weekly Re-Cap / Quiz

- I just realized that I didn’t post a re-cap last week. Whoops.

- Things have been really busy.

- We had our UNITED kick-off that was awesome!

- Over 20 students accepted Christ into their lives!

- UNITED is every Wednesday night at 6:30, with a extra big UNITED on the first Wednesday of the month! (Except for the big one in October since it’s on Oct 8th)

- We are going to build a student leadership team this year like never before!

- Who do you know that would want to volunteer in student ministry?? We ALWAYS need more help!

- In any ministry, you never get to the point where you say, “Hmmmm. Wow! I just don’t need any more help!”

- Northway’s parenting series is going awesome! Tons of people have accepted Christ!

- I watched parts of the last Yankee game ever at Yankee Stadium! Whatever.

- I don’t really follow Football until the Red Sox season is over.

- The church staff got a book last week that has to be read by tomorrow. Only problem is that I didn’t get it until the end of the week. It has almost 300 pages. It’s a great book though. (The E Myth Revisited) I love that we are challenged to read business books in ministry.

For some reason, I am a magnet for email forwards. I get over 100 per week. Most of them tell me to forward them to 10 other people or else I’ll go bald or something. This is what happens when teenagers get your email address.

Here is the official email forward of the week:

PG: Parental Guidance Required

We have a great new series starting this weekend at Northway! “Parental Guidance Required” is going to be a parenting/leadership series. I don’t have kids yet, but I love that I can go to a church that talks openly about this stuff before I do have them. (I’m not saying that I’m having them anytime soon!) I see so many parents these days longing for some direction with their kids.

I know that Pastor Buddy has been working hard, as usual, to make this series relevant to everyone that comes! Check out his blog for the trailer and to read some of his posts about the series.

ATTENTION STUDENTS!!! Don’t forget that we want you guys to sit in the front middle section for whatever service you attend! The front row in the middle is reserved on Saturday nights, but take over the second and third rows on that night, and then the first and second on Sunday! Lead worship from the seats!

Now Scroll down and watch my squirrel video! :)
